By Tracy Effinger and Suzanne Rowen
1. Keep a glass of water by your bed and as soon as your morning alarm sounds, drink it down before you do anything else. It feels great and you'll get a jump start on meeting your daily water needs.

2. Buy individually packed snacks because a good size portion is already determined for you.

3. Squeeze lemon or lime juice into your water to make for a refreshing treat.

4. Pack nonperishable, healthy snacks (almonds, sunflower seeds) in your glove compartment or your purse so that you don't just reach for anything when you get hungry.

5. For a helpful detox, squeeze lemon juice into an 8-ownce glasses of hot water or try green tea, which contains antioxidants.

9. Keep written reminders around to drink water, eat slowly, or think before you eat. Don't watch TV or talk on the phone while you eat. You want to be fully present and experience your meals.

10. Count sixteen consecutive gulps before putting your water glass or bottle down. Surprise! you've just chugged down about 8 ounces of water without even knowing it.

11. Find alternatives for your favorite fatty sweets. If chocolate seduces you, try to fall for a cup of low fat hot chocolate or non fat lattte instead. If strawberry pie is your thing, opt for strawberries and some nonfat whipped cream or a frozen sorbet bar or popsicle

12. Finally, remember that tomorrow is another day.

The Power of Metaphor ... Continues from page one

weddingconnections.com featuring Wedding with SpiritAs an Interfaith Rabbi, I was able to learn this secret by jumping outside the religious box of liturgy. I am not apposed to the ancient traditions used for thousands of years but without the personal touch of metaphor, your guests will quickly begin looking at their watch or simply drift off, wondering what food will be served for the reception. This is what happens without metaphor in the ceremony.

To enliven your moment, your rabbi or minister should be able to weave into the ceremony personal beliefs, ideals, or even humorous traits that each of you possess. By doing this each element adds a living insight into both of you as a couple. Your guest will also be able to identify and associate with the meaning of each element in relationship to you.

One example is during the explanation of the rings.weddingconnections.com featuring wedding with spirit I share of the unique traits the Gold or Platinum have and then relate it to qualities of character you share that is similar to that metal.

As you plan your ceremony together, begin to think of how you can bring personal meaning to as many of the elements that you include in your ceremony. By doing this, you will breath life into what could be a sleeper of a ceremony.
