Mother of the Groom
The following traditional responsibility tips may answer some questions:
Intro:
1. After receiving the BIG news, (i.e. the proposal) if you have not already met them, introduce yourself and family to the bride's parents. This can be done by
a. A call to the bride’s mother expressing your joy .
b. An invitation to an informal dinner at your home or invitation to dinner at your favorite restaurant. Here you will get to know each other and share your joy of the proposed union.
Guest List:
2. Provide the bride and groom with your guest list and be sure to keep to the allotted number of invites.
a. The list should include the full name, complete mailing address, email address, & phone numbers. (Remember it is important to include salutations and an separate side note by each name of the relationship. This offers a pre-introduction prior to the wedding and a nice gesture)
b. Call any of your guests who are late in RSVPing.
Lodging:
3.
Asist your guests with lodging reservations.
a. Check with the bride first before booking lodging, she may have set
up a special room block at or near the reception venue. This room block usually offers a special wedding rate.
