Purpose of Marriage
By Rev. Richleigh Hale Powers, Ph.D.

If I were to ask you, "What is the purpose of your marriage? What would you say? Most people don't have an answer. We think about how much we love each other and how things are going in our

marriage, but most of us have not considered
that the marriage should have a clearly defined purpose. What businessman would be so presumptuous as to walk into a bank and ask for a multi-millions dollar loan without a plan to use and pay back that money? Yet many of us enter into and go through marriage without any idea of where we have been, where we are, where we want to go, and how we're going to get there.

The following is a mission statement that one couple wrote for their marriage; "Our purpose is to grow in love for one another, support each other's endeavors, and serve God by using our gifts and skills. Our purpose is long lasting, but our activities involved in fulfilling our purpose change with time." Let me suggest that as a couple you create and write down your own mission statement. By clearly defining your overall purpose in marriage, you are much better prepared to develop and realize your plans for your successful marriage. www.RevPowers.com

Wedding Floral Trends
By Mindy Glass, Florabella, Inc

By following our tips, you will soon find yourself smiling all the way down the aisle to marital bliss!

The coming trends for 2005 as always are ever changing and built upon what has been successful in the previous year. Brides are leaning towards contemporary palettes, whether it be rich monochromatic harmonies, vibrant and bright tones, such as lime green and fuchsia, or the truly classic look of whites and cremes to soft pastels.

Each bride has her own vision of how her wedding flowers will reflect her personality and individuality. More intense bright colors are on the trend reflecting youthful enthusiasm.
With bouquets, we
are seeing a lot of varying textures such as hydrangea with mini calla lilies and roses tucked in with little or no greenery creating an elegant

and crisp look. Groupings of different sized glass cubes or cylinders featuring either the same or different flowers in a monochromatic color scheme are becoming a popular request for table centerpieces.

San Diego is so diverse; we see a bit of everything from a casual wedding on the beach to an elegant black tie event at one of our local upscale hotels. With San Diego offering so many outdoor venues, in a way, it lends itself to a more casual, laid back event. Brides love to incorporate a tropical, beachy theme whether it be a bamboo arch decorated with palm fronds and dendrobium orchids or as simple as including some ti leaves in their bouquet for a bit of tropical flair.

Don’t Forget to "Laugh"!
By Wedding Connections

While planning your wedding, you may be faced with challenges that can cause frustration. The key to keeping calm and collected, is having an open mind and positive attitude.

Focus your energy on the things that are going right. Remember, you’re not alone. It’s not abnormal for a bride to feel this way. Try to
laugh about the mishaps and you’ll find yourself smiling at the little annoyances.”

Looking at situations with a sense of
humor will help ease the stress.

Keep smiling and before you know it your perfect day will be here!
