Photojournalism Defined ...
Continues from page one

Finally, it is important to find a photojournalist who doesn’t overlook the small stuff. Detail photography is an art in and of itself; specifically, of knowing what to shoot. Beyond the bouquet and cake, a simple place card at the head table with the bride’s new last name is a very compelling image. Other details that help complete the story include petals scattered on an awaiting aisle runner, a tiny ring bearer’s hand clutching a pillow, or the discarded bustling directions for the bride’s train.

When all of these images—candids, portraits, and details—come together in an album, they say what words cannot. They tell a story. They tell it through the art of photojournalism.

Summer Wedding Hair-dos
By Gretchen Maurer, weddinghair.com

Travel is easy, the days are long, what better time then to tie the knot on a balmy July evening…but wait…. The very elements we associate with summer fun are the very elements that can wreck havoc with your perfectly coiffed hair-do. Humidity, showers, ocean breezes, morning fog, heat, sweat, and bugs abound in the good ole summer time.
But don’t despair, with realistic expectations and proper planning you can have the wedding hairstyle of your dreams…even in the summer!

First, you must have realistic expectations. I have 20 years of experience and have found that this is the hardest thing for clients to accept. We all want what we don’t have. (Hey that’s why I have a job!)

If you have curly or wavy hair you KNOW what summer heat and moisture can do. Frizz!

Think of hair as a sponge. It absorbs the moisture in the air, wavy hair gets wavier and straight hair gets limper.

The best advice I can offer is to try not to hope for perfect weather.

Nothing causes more stress than worrying about something you have no control over. So don’t expect that your pin straight blow out will last through your deck side wedding. If you hate your frizz then have your hair put up into a style that is designed to stay. Leave-in-conditioners, silicone based products, anti-humectants and wax styling aids will all help. If you want to wear your curls down and keep the fizz at ease, try slicking it back with one or more of these heavy styling products. But make sure to give your look a practice run!

From Traditional to Contemporary
by Jerry Klein, A Better Deal Tuxedo

Your local independent formal specialist that is "owner/operator" cares.

He can't hide beside his corporate headquarters and policies. Your local store"merchant" is the person you place the order with. He fits your men; he assembles the tuxedos; he adjusts everything for them when they pick up before the event; he is the one that ask you how everything was after the event.

Your local formalwear specialist carries all the major brands, in stock for you to see, feel and try on. Renting and selling tuxedos is their 'only" business. It feeds their families and helps your local economy. When you rent from a national chain, your dollars go somewhere else.

When you decide to reserve your formalwear, never order through a book or accept that the garment you will be using for your "once in a life time" event is at another location. It simply isn't true. Insist on seeing what you'll look like in the actual formalwear you are reserving.
