The day of the ceremony
is determined by a Buddhist monk or fortune teller.
The wedding consists of serveral ceremonies,
such as asking of marriage, procession to recieve the
bride, procession to the groom's house
, the second ancestor ceremony and the reception gathering.
The mother of the groom and relatives
walked to the brides hous the morning of the wedding
with with gifts of betel to ask teh permission to receive
the bride at her house.
.The groom leads a procession to the
brides house, accumulating family and friends along
the way. The grooms family will carry decoraed lacquer
boxes with gifts covered in red linen that represented
his wealth and gifts were presented to the brides family.
The bride and groom served tea. During the candle ceremony
the families of both bride and groom celebrated the
union and the grooms mother dressed the bride in jewelry
that was brought as gifts.
The procession to the groom's house
took place after the official permission to take his
bride home. The groom's mother is the only one that
does not join the procession, to show the bride their
is no rivalry between them. Click
