parents.
Spanish influence is wide-spread in Mexican-Latin culture and Mexico-Latin-Philippino
also use these customs.
Starting with a "Traditional Catholic Wedding Mass" - The Lasso
(lazo) and the 13 gold coins (arras) are originally a Spanish custom.
The groom presents to his bride thirteen gold coins as his promise to

strength, is blessed during their ceremony.
The wedding cakes are small, round pastries made of almonds, flour and
butter. They are wrapped in colored tissue paper and given to each guest
as a wedding favor to bring home.
