Romance after the Wedding

The honeymoon should never be over ...

By: Wedding Connections

Who says the honeymoon has to be limited to the actual two week vacation you take to Jamaica? Create a recipe that includes nurturing, bonding, dating, communication, and giving. With these items extend your romance long into the 1st year of your marriage, and beyond.

Nurture - Create a romantic and soothing retreat in your bedroom:
a) Use scents to evoke calm such as chamomile, juniper and lavender.
b) Buy down pillows for extra comfort, add a feather bed for extended play time on lazy Sunday afternoons.
c) Replace bright lights with soft 25 to 40 watt bulbs.
d) Remove the TV if you have one there and replace with books and fresh flowers.
e) Drape curtains around your bed for a quiet hideaway that shuts out the rest of the world.
f) Never talk about money, in-laws, or work in the bedroom. This is a room for intimacy and love not money matters and family foibles.
g) Take your mate to buy lingerie for you, his taste may not be what you would have picked for yourself, but it will turn him on!

Date - Don’t forget to continue to date the mate you married. Studies show that married couples who date once or twice a week have healthier, happier marriages that last longer.

Communicate - Keep on communicating. Leave notes in his lunch, make jokes written in soap on bathroom mirrors, put something like a sexy picture in his /her briefcase. Listen when your mate has a problem (men try not to fix her problems and women try to keep it in a nutshell) and forgive when you make each other angry.

Give - Do special things for each other to promote loving feelings and respect. Men - bring her flowers when she does not expect it, surprise her with a special picnic, or massage her back after a bad day. Women - when he’s having a bad day give him some space, surprise him with an action movie, or treat him to a nice dinner.

Bond - Create something together: a scrapbook of your engagement, decorate a special room, or plan an unusual party to celebrate your 1st anniversary together!

When you give, communicate, nurture, and bond you are building the foundation of your marriage. And a marriage with a strong solid foundation will be romantic for a lifetime!
