A diamond that is cut correctly will
sparkle
with fire
and brilliance
Round cuts are the most popular
Most round diamonds have 58 facet.
The mathematical model for modern brilliant cuts was developed
in 1919 by Marcel Tolkowski.
Mr. Tolkowski determined the critical angles necessary to
reflect the most light back out of the top, or crown, of a polished diamond.
The 144 Facet pattern was originally developed by the Huisman
Brothers in the late 60's and continued under their direction until 1986.
The Huisman Brothers Zeiss commissioned Optical Laboratory
to do a comparative study of 144-Facet diamonds and ordinary 58 facet diamonds.
Zeiss concluded that the 144-Facet diamonds have an average of 32% more brilliance
than 58 facet stones.
Other cuts include:
Emerald - Pear - Marquise
Princess - Oval - Heart shaped cuts |
