Wedding Tipping Etiquette for your Vendors

Who should get a tip

By: Wedding Connections

Your faced with the question "To whom, when and how much to tip your wedding vendors?" It’s a personal expression of gratitude for service given.

You will come to find that some vendors include gratuities in their contracts, such as caterers. Discuss this with your vendors and have it place in writing before you sign on the dotted line.

Below is a list of wedding professionals that you will come in contact with through-out the planning process that do not necessary receive gratuities for their work. This does not mean that a gratuity wouldn't be welcome for exceptional service.

1. Wedding Consultant,
2. Seamstress (Alterations)
3. Tuxedo shop attendance.
4. Caterer
5. Photographer and Assistant
6. Videographer
7. Baker
8. Florist
9. Musicians at your ceremony
10. Travel Consultant,
(Tipping only for extra special services, up to 15%.)

Keep in mind that vendors still very much welcome thank you cards. This is a written reminder of your gratitude for great service and they can share these appreciation cards with future clients.

Prearrange with your wedding coordinator, best man or father of the bride or groom to hand out the tips for you. Place your tips in separated envelopes with vendors names on them.

Vendors and suggested tipping amounts:
(This is a suggested list )

Hair Stylists/Makeup Artist –15-20%, when visiting a salon. If the vendor come to your location , this amount is optional.

Limo Drivers – 15% of total bill, tips are to be given at the end of the evening. Check your contract to see if tipping is included in contracted price.

Valet Attendant or Parking Attendants - $.50 to $1.00 per car, if this amount is included in the contract, Attendants should not accept monies from guests. Have this information on your rsvp cards.

(If the service charge is already in the contract price, it is up to you to additionally tip an indiviual for service that is over and above your expectations).
